Comprehensive construction measures for greater efficiency and effectiveness.
Vienna General Hospital is one of the biggest and most important university clinics in Europe. It was erected as a compact large-scale hospital with two concentrated main volumes, which not only shortened circulation distances but also facilitated internal organisation. Until then, Vienna’s prime hospital had been a combination of scattered clinics, some with buildings dating back to the 18th century. The new structure made it possible to combine these buildings and to concentrate all medical services in one architectural complex.
