Modern building concept for maximum success in therapy.

Moser Architects planned a rehabilitation center for children and adolescents in the thermal region of Lower Austria, south of Vienna. The task was to develop a holistic concept to meet young patients’ needs. The U-shaped structure is focused on the medicinal and therapeutic care of 114 young patients and offers additional accommodation for 104 accompanying adults. Part of the concept are also spacious therapy and rehabilitation facilities, as well as nursing wards for mental health.

Young people’s needs as a priority.

The idea was to create a health-promoting environment also with regard to room designs. To promote the well-being of young patients, a clear visual orientation system, suitable color designs, and large play areas were as important as abundant daylight and green areas.

Central access as a guiding principle on all stories.

The main entrance leads into a large, bright hall which accommodates the reception desk, an attractive cafeteria and children play area. Two central staircases and elevators – one each in the east and west wing – take patients and staff to the care units, out-patient clinics, and the central control desk.
