Vienna Skylink – comprehensive renovations.

The modernization of the Vienna Airport included some alterations and additions, which included the construction of two terminals, the extension of the Pier South and a land link between terminal and transit zones.

A spectacular dark cover.

Horizontal structuring of the façade symbolise the high dynamic of the new Terminal building and span the characteristic areas.

Peripheral terminals and Pier South.

Two peripheral terminals enclose the tight structure of the main airport building. The open departure level connects these two terminals. Horizontal structuring of the façade symbolise the high dynamic of the new Terminal building and span the characteristic areas. Expanding of the southern E-Position into two C-Positions results an integrative rhythm of the structure. The size of one C-Position determines a module which meets the requirements of economic construction processes, high operational readiness, short escape routes and reasonable mechanical sections.

Landside development.

The traffic structure and the distribution level are linking landside traffic with the terminal. Several accesses on both levels organise the traffic routing and are dimensioned for the increased passenger frequency. The traffic structure and the new porch link the old and new structures and reflect the one roof concept. Photos © Werner Huthmacher
